Quantum GIS Training in Liverpool at the University of Liverpool Foresight Centre on 11th  & 12th October 2012

If you would like to get up and running with the latest version of Quantum GIS then think about spending a couple of days with JPS Services in Liverpool at the Foresight Centre which is  conveniently situated within the University of Liverpool.  This introductory Quantum GIS course takes place on Thursday the 11th  and Friday the 12th October 2012.
The course  assumes that you have little or no knowledge of GIS (Geographical Information Systems) but will anticipate that you have a basic understanding of the Microsoft Windows interface. During this two day course there will be many different exercises to get you quickly up and running with Quantum GIS. Together with power point demonstrations, this will give you a firm foundation in how GIS can benefit your organisation.
If you are not familiar with Quantum GIS,  sometimes referred to as QGIS,  this is open source software which can be freely downloaded and used without payment of a licence fee. Because it is truly open source, you can also modify the software if you have programming skills.  In this way you can make the program perform in exactly the way you require.  Naturally, this two day training course will not be covering any programming element. Instead we will be concentrating on the many powerful features and functionality available in the standard version of QGIS.

The course includes refreshments, including a buffet lunch.  Please indicate on the contact form whether you have any specific dietary requirements when booking the course.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on Thursday the 11th Ocober 2012 at the Foresight Centre at 1 Brownlow Hill University of Liverpool at 9.30 am.
